Android calendar apps usually cannot subscribe to calendar URLs directly – not even the Google Calendar app. That is why there are two ways on Android:
Option 1: The calovo app (recommended)
Install the free calovo app from the Play Store (Android 8.0 or newer). You then have two options:
Search directly in the app
- Open the app and tap “+” at the bottom right – the calendar catalogue opens.
- Find your calendar via search or the topic tiles and tap “Subscribe to calendar”.
- You get a preview of the next events. Optionally set name, color, reminders, and the refresh interval under “Customize”.
- Confirm with “Subscribe to calendar”. The first time, Android asks for calendar permission – the app needs it to create the events.
Or: tap a calovo link
Got a calovo subscribe link or browsing calovo.de? Tap “Subscribe” – the app intercepts the link and opens the same subscription card.
The events land in a dedicated Android account called “Calovo Calendars”; each subscription gets its own calendar underneath. They appear in your usual calendar app – provided that account is enabled there. The app asks you about this right after subscribing and shows you the way (Google Calendar: Settings → Manage accounts).
Option 2: Via your Google Calendar
- Subscribe to the calfeed once in the browser using your Google account – Google Calendar guide.
- Then, in the Google Calendar app on your phone, enable the new calendar in the settings and turn on “Sync”.
This also works for Samsung Calendar: it shows all calendars of your connected Google account. Note: Google refreshes subscribed calendars on its own schedule – this usually takes a few hours, in rare cases up to 72 hours (more about freshness).
